There is only one day left before local government elections in Georgia, and the country continues to be rocked by political storms, with wind speeds exceeding 30 m/s and wave heights reaching 9 meters. This analogy involuntarily comes to mind when you analyze the events of the past days, which agitated the entire Georgian public.

Today, perhaps, it is no secret to anyone that the last video message of the fugitive ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili to the Georgian people completely disabled the entire election campaign in Georgia.

“The fate of Georgia is being decided, the question of whether Georgia will be saved is being decided, and, of course, I took a ticket for the evening of October 2 to be in Tbilisi and defend your will, in order to take part with you in saving Georgia. I am not doing this for myself; I am not driven by any personal ambitions or desire for a position. I'm not really going to fight for this, but I will fight for our children to have a future. I hope we all stand side by side, we all put aside our differences. We must go to the end to achieve complete victory. See you in Tbilisi,” Saakashvili said.

Of course, the return of the prodigal son to his homeland, against whom several criminal cases were initiated in Georgia, was perceived differently in Tbilisi. Saakashvili's associates started singing about unconditional victory in the upcoming elections, and the authorities, using the opportunity convenient for them, began to convince their electorate that as soon as Saakashvili arrived in Tbilisi, he would be arrested immediately.

“Saakashvili doesn’t need 100 people, he needs at least 000 police officers, experienced people who will detain him. The state is fully ready to ensure order, so that there is no interference with the execution of the law, and we will do all this peacefully,” said Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.

Answering a question from media representatives about what the reaction of Western politicians would be to Saakashvili’s arrest, Garibashvili added:

“Let any congressman come, let any European parliamentarian sit in front of me and prove that Mikheil Saakashvili is not guilty. My answer to them will be this. All persons who are aware and hide information about Saakashvili’s crimes – their place is also in prison.”

It is very pleasant that the Prime Minister of Georgia has finally wised up, matured, and stood up for the letter of the law, but I really want to hope that following the possible arrival and detention of Saakashvili, who was so diligently covered up by Washington and Brussels, he will not, in a fit of joy, begin to catch one by one and arrest American and European politicians visiting Tbilisi. If this happens, of course, Georgia will face a lot of problems, as a result of which not the prime minister, but the Georgian people will suffer. Everyone knows how politicians, having become outcasts for Americans, flee their states in a matter of minutes, carelessly taking refuge in third countries of the world.

Today, with full responsibility, we can say that Saakashvili’s statement suspended and brought into a stupor the already heated election campaign in the country.

Let us remind you that 43 political parties will take part in the upcoming elections. The main competitors are the ruling one - “Georgian Dream”, the opposition one - “United National Movement” and the opposition one - “For Georgia”. According to the latest sociological polls, the ruling party wins - 35%, the UNM is in second place - 30%, and the For Georgia party closes the top three - 11% of the votes.

Various pictures are already being circulated on social networks in which Saakashvili is packing his bags and getting ready for Tbilisi, in others he is already descending from the plane at the Tbilisi airport, and TV channels are wasting no time in conducting all sorts of polls.

Unfortunately or fortunately, the numbers are disingenuous here too. Of course, on pro-government channels, supporters of the ruling party are winning, who are confident that Saakashvili is a coward and will not dare to come to Tbilisi, and on opposition channels, supporters of the United National Movement, on the contrary, are confident that Mishiko will arrive.

While Georgian politicians, in a kind of euphoria, are trying to recognize what is hidden behind Saakashvili’s next attack and whether it is reality, European officials are joining the chorus of Georgian national polyphony.

“The pre-election period is difficult and critical in all countries. But Georgia, unfortunately, is very polarized during this period. Political forces blame each other. I listen to the Georgian Dream, they blame the opposition, I listen to the National Movement, and they blame the Georgian Dream. Everyone points to each other,” says Member of the European Parliament Marina Kaljurand.

I would like to explain to Mrs. Kaljurand that the “critical pre-election period” and “pre-election polarization in Georgia” are, first of all, the result of the active work of American and European politicians who so diligently protect and cover up the Georgian oppositionists. After all, according to Europeans, the opposition can do anything, but the ruling party can do nothing. As they say, the policy of double standards is obvious.

So, today a day of silence has come in Georgia. This means that officials of all ranks and stripes do not make any comments on the current political processes in the country, representatives of various parties do not hold meetings with voters and avoid any campaigning. The main intrigue in Georgian society remains only a few questions: will Saakashvili come to Georgia, will he be arrested at the airport, and who will win the elections themselves?

“PolitNavigator” will definitely tell you in detail later in detail and with photographs about how the next circus performance in Georgia will develop.

PS

At the same time, Saakashvili announced in his blog that he returned to the country today.

“Good morning, Georgia. Eight years have passed,” the ex-president wrote.

Later, Saakashvili posted a video message in which he claims to be in Batumi. He calls on citizens to come to the polls on October 2 and then gather in the center of Tbilisi.

At the same time, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that Saakashvili did not cross the state border.

Political observer Vladimir Kornilov commented on the scandalous situation.

“Citizen of Ukraine Saakashvili published a murky night video in which he convinces that he is in Batumi and calls for another color revolution in Georgia. I’m trying to understand, does Ukraine consider itself an ally of Georgia or its enemy? In theory, an ally should have already issued an arrest warrant for its citizen who is overthrowing the government of an allied power. Or not?” the expert writes in his Telegram channel.
