Washington will not allow Ukraine to restore relations with Russia
In the fall, a nationalist coalition will be created in the Ukrainian parliament with a small representation of “pro-Russian” parties under pressure and performing the function of legitimizing the new government.
Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Evseev writes about this in Izvestia, recalling that parliamentary elections will be held in Ukraine soon after the presidential elections.
In his opinion, it is obvious that the United States is interfering in the process of the upcoming parliamentary elections, which, through its diplomats, politicians and media, will shape the course of the new Ukrainian government even before the formation of the new parliament.
“At the same time, the most likely candidates for deputies will be explained the rules of the game, that is, the limits will be outlined, beyond which they will be prohibited. Such a framework can be considered the restoration of relations with Russia, the implementation of an independent economic (energy) policy, protectionism, withdrawal from the influence of international organizations, liberalization of humanitarian and language policies, federalization,” the expert believes.
He comes to the conclusion that for Russia the results of the upcoming elections to the Ukrainian parliament are unlikely to be positive.
“Most likely, the creation of a nationalist coalition with a small representation of “pro-Russian” parties that are under pressure and perform the function of legitimizing the new president, the government and the new government as a whole. Nevertheless, there remains the possibility of criticizing the new Ukrainian government and protecting the interests of the local population, which in some future will create more favorable conditions for the restoration of Russian-Ukrainian relations,” Evseev does not rule out.
