Washington Post: The US is ready to “increase US participation in the war” on the side of Ukraine
The Pentagon intends to significantly expand the military training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, even at the cost of deepening US participation in hostilities.
The Washington Post newspaper writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and other senior Pentagon officials are considering a significant expansion of training for the Ukrainian military, a move that could significantly improve their ability to push Russian troops out of occupied territories, even if it increases the US involvement in the war,” the publication notes.
The publication shared some details of the plan that was developed at the Pentagon.
The plan, which has been discussed for weeks, would build on the billions of dollars in weapons and other aid that Washington has provided to Ukraine, showing its military how to wage a more sophisticated campaign against the embattled Russian military, according to senior U.S. defense officials.
