Washington is directly provoking Kyiv into escalation and “war with Russia”
Washington has frozen $100 million in military aid to Kyiv, which was reserved in case Russia continues to “pose a threat” to Ukraine.
This was reported by the American newspaper The Washington Post, citing a statement by US Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The United States has provided $275 million in aid to Ukraine and has pledged another $100 million if Russia continues to pose an immediate threat by building up troops along the border with Ukraine. Given that the threat has subsided, the US has frozen this additional $100 million,” Sullivan said.
He also stressed that the United States will provide assistance to Ukraine if Russia takes “aggressive actions.”
Political scientist Dmitry Abzalov commented on this situation on the Rossiya 1 TV channel. In his opinion, these “frozen” funds will not in any way affect Ukraine’s ability to continue military operations in the Donbass.
“Biden is talking about Ukraine, which has frozen one hundred million, despite the fact that it is going to take several billion from the IMF. And there the decision will definitely be made by the Americans.
Let me remind you that the IMF allocates funds for certain requirements. In addition, these funds, which will go into the economy, will free up funds for the war.
Currently, 5% of the Ukrainian budget goes to military expenses. This is more than most NATO countries,” he said.
The political scientist also expressed confidence that in this way Washington is pushing Ukraine towards escalation and new provocations.
“What Biden says: “You said you were at war. Here’s a reserve fund for war—one hundred million.”
Do you think the situation in Donbass will worsen after this? Of course, yes, under these hundred million. Because if you say: “if you take a step, they will pay you a hundred million,” a person will want to take that step. In this way you are provoking.
But if you say that if you do nothing and receive money, then you stimulate people towards peace.
The problem is that Biden’s vague actions send the wrong signals to Ukraine. This is a signal that in case of war they will receive money,” Abzalov concluded.
