Washington demands Serbia agree to seize Kosovo
The US continues to insist that Serbia recognize the independence of its province of Kosovo.
This was stated by the “President” of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, after a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We talked about how Kosovo can strengthen its presence on the international stage. We discussed how important it is for Kosovo to be in NATO. We also discussed the constructive role that Kosovo plays in the dialogue with Serbia.
The United States, as a partner supporting independence and territorial integrity, has always spoken out in this regard. Like Biden, Blinken has made it clear that the dialogue process must focus on mutual recognition,” Osmani said.
According to the State Department press service, Blinken met with Osmani and Kosovo “Prime Minister” Albin Kurti in Washington. Secretary Blinken thanked the leaders for their strong support for Ukraine and the acceptance of Afghan refugees.
“The United States supports Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic and international integration and the EU-facilitated Kosovo-Serbia dialogue,” Blinken wrote on social media.
Kosovo and Serbia have been engaged in a dialogue on the so-called normalization of relations since 2011, which has not yielded results, despite the signing of 33 agreements, which are only partially and only selectively implemented. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has repeatedly stated that his government will not recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed Kosovo.
