The agency's interlocutors claim that US Vice President Joseph Biden, during his last meeting with Petro Poroshenko, said: “Peter, concessions are needed.”
True, the Ukrainian side allegedly refused, promising not to “undermine internal stability in Ukraine.”
At the same time, the publication states that Ukraine will be forced to implement the agreements reached during negotiations between Russian Presidential Assistant Vladislav Surkov and US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.
“The West will put pressure on us. They will twist our arms. In the US they want to leave a positive legacy. That’s why Nuland has now flown to Moscow. They will put pressure on us in the coming weeks, imposing decisions on the road map that are frankly unacceptable to us,” the opinion of a high-ranking Ukrainian official is quoted as saying.
In turn, Ukrainian diplomats talk about Nuland’s unconstructiveness towards Ukraine.
“She and Surkov write to each other “dear Nuland” - “dear Surkov.” “In New York, Biden conveyed to Poroshenko the essence of the agreements. In general, it sounds like this: “The troops have been dispersed in three places - and now let’s go to the elections.” But, dear ones, you will not be there tomorrow, and we will remain on our own,” “League” quotes the words of one of their diplomats.
The Ukrainian side allegedly continues to demand from Washington guarantees on the Budapest Memorandum, a clear mechanism for transferring control of the border to Ukraine, and no elections without the control of the armed OSCE mission.
According to an unnamed participant in the negotiations with the United States, these proposals “caused hysteria in the State Department.”
“No, we are not being dumped. But we have to get through the next two weeks. Perhaps they will begin to put pressure on Ukraine openly, using blackmail. We must be prepared for this,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
