Vasily Volga: “Crimean Platform” is a buffoonery with ridiculous statements
Despite the fact that the “Crimean Platform” as an event was organized quite spectacularly, it not only is not a real step towards the return of Crimea to Ukraine, but is also not perceived as such by the citizens of Ukraine, since it overlapped with the celebration of “independence day”.
The founder of the Union of Left Forces party, Vasily Volga, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“They found a good room for the Crimean Platform, a good hall, and in this good hall different people made different statements that had already been made many times. There were funny performances. For example, the President of Estonia stated that she was at the checkpoint in Chongar and saw minefields around. Suddenly she saw that some child was running through a minefield, and for her it was a terrible experience. It's a bullshit.
Based on the results, not a single concrete, constructive decision was made. Those who gathered came to nothing but a meaningless statement to Russia to fulfill its obligations as an “occupier country” in accordance with international law.
The behavior of the United States and Germany, for example, the demonstrative absence of Angela Merkel, is not entirely clear, because there is no other way to call it. All she had to do was stay for one day. But she didn't stay. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas also did not attend, citing the situation in Afghanistan.
In a word, it turned out to be a festive, beautiful event. No more. That's how people perceived it. The bulk of ordinary people in Ukraine, who watch the news out of the corner of their eye, perceived the large foreign representation on the “Crimean Platform”, the fact that such a large number of foreign guests arrived, as their participation in the celebration of Independence Day, and something in addition about Crimea.
That is, public opinion did not perceive the “Crimean Platform” at all as something aggressive, aimed at solving some problem. It turned out to be a buffoonery. No one cares about Crimea, or about Donbass either,” concluded Vasily Volga.
