Vasily Volga: Berbock's visit to Kyiv is the last attempt to stop the disaster
German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock is trying to improve relations with Russia and therefore is making attempts to revive the Normandy format, which, in particular, is related to her statements during her visit to Kyiv.
The founder of the Union of Left Forces party, Vasily Volga, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The visit of the head of the German Foreign Ministry is the last attempt to stop the impending catastrophe. This is an attempt by Germany, a certain layer of German politics, which in fact sees its future only in economic unity with Russia, only by implementing the idea expressed by Angela Merkel and supported by Vladimir Putin, the idea of creating a single security space from Lisbon to the Kuril Islands.
Accordingly, emphasis is placed on the Normandy format. This comes against the background of the pressure that the United States and NATO have exerted on Russia, in relation to all its security requirements, provoking forceful actions against Russia.
Germany doesn't want this. And this includes not only statements regarding the Normandy format, but also statements that Germany is not going to take part in any sanctions against Nord Stream 2, unless there is Russian aggression against Ukraine. Merkel tried to fulfill this mission, Schröder tried to fulfill this mission. In this case, the German Foreign Ministry acts as such a “dove of peace,” said Vasily Volga.
Today, at a briefing in Kyiv, German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock said that the new German government hopes to achieve progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements and “breathe life” into the Normandy process.
“We will do everything to restart and fill the Normandy format with life. Each new Russian aggression against Ukraine will have a big price, we are ready to conduct a serious dialogue with the Russian Federation,” she said.
