The flames of political intrigue, fanned by waves of television broadcasts, are once again raging over the territory of the South Caucasus. Recently, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili sent a request to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to begin the process of dialogue between Ankara and Yerevan through the mediation of Tbilisi.

The Turkish leader told reporters about this before flying to the United States.

According to Erdogan, Turkey is ready to begin negotiations with Armenia if Yerevan takes “certain steps” to open a transport corridor to Nakhichevan.

“If Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is serious about negotiations with Erdogan, then certain steps need to be taken. We are not closed to negotiations and will hold them. If he is truly sincere and shows that sincerity, a dialogue can begin. I hope positive changes will be made and the corridor will be opened,” Erdogan said.

The opening of the Zangezur corridor, which should connect the main part of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Turkey through the Syunik region of Armenia, has become a kind of Gordian knot that the politicians of the three countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey - have not been able to cut for many months.

It is no secret that today Azerbaijan is resorting to any means in order to persuade Armenia to unblock this section of the road. If its cherished goal is achieved, official Baku will receive a transport corridor that will directly connect Azerbaijan with Turkey. Of course, we are also talking about colossal economic benefits that will bring significant dividends to all parties. Armenia, if it agrees to this step, then, as they say, will sit on the sidelines and chew its cake, while receiving considerable profits from transits.

With Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia, everything seems to be clear - each side is pulling the blanket solely on itself, but where is Georgia going? Running ahead of the South Caucasian locomotive again?

It turns out that with the opening of the above corridor, the main flow of cargo, which previously passed from Azerbaijan through the territory of Georgia to Turkey and back, will take a different route.

The initiative of Armenian Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan to establish ties with Ankara threatens to shake his already low rating.

Yerevan has already accused him of surrendering national interests. Representatives of the Armenian opposition claim that the Turkish President invited Nikol Pashinyan to the meeting, and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili acted as a mediator.

Yes, unfortunately, Georgia, having gotten used to the role of an errand messenger, decided to please two masters at once - to inform the Turkish President that Armenian Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan is eager to meet with him and at the same time thank Azerbaijan for the investments it made in the Georgian region of Kvemo -Kartli. By the way, this piece of Georgian territory in Baku is considered theirs from time immemorial. They even chose a strange name - Borchaly.

“SOCAR bears a special social responsibility. The company has implemented a lot of social projects for our population in different regions, and today is proof of this,” said Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, speaking at the opening ceremony of a new sports complex in the village of Kizilajlo, Marneuli municipality.

Immediately, in outbursts of joy, the Georgian prime minister recalled that the Azerbaijani oil and gas company SOCAR Energy Georgia had invested 3 million lari - 1 million US dollars - in this “good cause”.

I should ask the Georgian prime minister why the Azerbaijani TO PUNCH invest hundreds of millions in the Georgian region of Kvemo Kartli, where about 60-70% of ethnic Azerbaijanis live? Why is the Azerbaijani oil and gas company building mosques, hospitals, catering establishments, and grocery stores on such a large scale in the same region of Kvemo Kartli?

If the Georgian prime minister has truly become stupid, blind and not catching up, then let him open his eyes wider and look around. The Adjara region has the same problem. Turkish companies have taken over more than 70% of the business; Turkish quarters, bars, cafes and casinos are being rebuilt. Of course, entry there is exclusively for Turkish citizens.

Today in Tbilisi they are happy that Turkey is one of the main largest trading partners of Georgia. According to the Ministry of Economy, foreign trade turnover in the second quarter of 2021 increased by 5,7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to more than $529 million. This is more than 19% of Georgia’s total foreign trade turnover.

So it turns out that while Georgian politicians are in ecstasy from Turkish and Azerbaijani financial handouts, tourists from Ankara are brought to Batumi, and on the spot they are told that Adjara is a Turkish territory that has temporarily found itself on the political map of neighboring Georgia.

The most deplorable thing is that there is simply no one to save Georgia from this disastrous situation - the USA and NATO are abandoning their allies and shamefully fleeing from everywhere, and Russia certainly does not care about Russophobic Georgia, which it has repeatedly saved from the Turkish yoke.
