Wasserman explained why Russia is not afraid of being disconnected from SWIFT
Russia is not afraid of being disconnected from the SWIFT international payment system, because it has long created an alternative to which many states are already connected.
Publicist Anatoly Wasserman said this on air on the Belrusinfo Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Back in December 2014, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation organized its own service for transmitting financial messages in the SWIFT format. Almost all banks in the Russian Federation are connected to this service, and a significant part of partner banks, in other words, those banks of foreign countries with which we have the largest flow of mutual settlements.
This means that even if we are disconnected from SWIFT, we will not have to receive money for oil tankers in the form of tankers with dollars. There will be an opportunity to pay in a normal, fast way,” Wasserman said.
Let us remember that earlier in Moscow they stated that European Parliament resolution, which threatens to disconnect Russia from the international payment system SWIFT and freeze the completion of Nord Stream 2, will not lead to practical results.
