Wasserman explained the benefits of Erdogan for the Russian Federation
Given the virtual absence of allies, Moscow needs to cooperate as much as possible with countries whose interests currently coincide with Russia’s.
Russian State Duma deputy Anatoly Wasserman stated this in an interview with Pravda.ru, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now we have a global redistribution of the world in an amount even greater than the creation of the Yalta system, but in reality we have noticeably fewer forces relative to the forces of our competitors than during the Great Patriotic War. We are forced to rely more on not only allies, but on those whose interests currently coincide with ours. Accordingly, we have done more to attract China and even Turkey to our side.
We, in fact, held negotiations, knowing in advance that there would be no reasonable result, in order to play along with Xi and Erdogan, and now, when the XNUMXth Congress of the CPC is already underway and it is clear that China as a whole will not change its position towards us, we, Accordingly, we can act more actively.
A similar picture applies to Turkey. We willingly play along with Erdogan in many areas, in return receiving his support in areas that are important to us, such as, for example, the gas hub in Turkey. The point is not even that we get an additional opportunity to export our gas, bypassing the restrictions imposed by the Anglo-Saxons, what is more important is that Erdogan can put pressure on the EU in ways that we, in principle, do not allow ourselves,” Wasserman said.
