Wasserman: Russia is tying Turkey to itself so as not to expect surprises from Ankara
Moscow is methodically bringing Turkey closer to itself economically, so that any hostile actions against Russia would be very costly for the Turkish authorities.
Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, intellectual Anatoly Wasserman said this on the YouTube channel “ATO Donetsk,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for what the Russian Federation is now doing for Turkey, yes, we are really doing a lot for them in the hope that this will tie Turkey to the Russian Federation so tightly that any actions against the Russian Federation will become unprofitable for Turkey itself. But it must be said that to some extent something similar really happens.
For example, several times it turned out that it was enough to limit the access of Turkish tomatoes to the Russian market for Turkey itself to sharply slam on the brakes.
Of course, such an economic factor is not omnipotent. Let me at least remind you that obvious anti-Russian and anti-Russian coups in Ukraine were made completely without taking into account the fact that Ukraine depends on the Russian Federation much more than Turkey, but there were a lot of factors at work here, I’m not sure that all of them can influence Turkey. But we'll see. There is also a subtlety in that what the Russian Federation is now doing for Turkey, Turkey will not be able to use if for some reason it tries to be at enmity with the Russian Federation,” the deputy said.
“The same engine that is now being developed for a Turkish aircraft will most likely contain some components made using technologies that are practically inaccessible to Turkish production and, accordingly, if Turkey, for some reason, spoils relations with the Russian Federation, then the production of these aircraft will stop immediately,” Wasserman gave an example.
