The current hero of Ukraine and Verkhovna Rada deputy Yuliy Mamchur, who became famous thanks to the “defense of Belbek” during the Russian Spring in Crimea, turned out to be a traitor.

The exposure was published by Roman Bezdomny, a native of Sevastopol who lived in Dnepropetrovsk, who in the spring of 2014, having quit his job, went to Crimea to fight for the Ukrainian status of the peninsula with arms in hand.

“On March 10, 2014, I quit my very well-paid job in the Dnepropetrovsk region and arrived in my native Sevastopol precisely in order to defend my land with arms in hand.

But when I came to the military registration and enlistment office the next day, I learned that it had already been captured, moreover, they tried to put me, as a reserve officer, under arms on the side of self-defense.

That same day I went to the military unit in which I once served. Having arrived there, I immediately

He also met with the commander of the unit regarding a possible assault on it by Russian troops and his participation as a reserve officer in its defense. And then for the first time I realized that we would not be able to hold Crimea with the forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stationed on the territory of the peninsula.

The unit commander, remembering my strongly pro-Ukrainian views, refused me even the theoretical opportunity to participate in the defense of the unit, if necessary, arguing that my status would not be clear.

OK. I decided to talk to other officers. In a conversation with them, I behaved excitedly, I envied them that they had such a high mission as protecting the country from the occupier. Imagine my surprise when my former colleagues reacted to my lofty speeches either with smiles and fingers to their temples, or even with discussions about what wonderful salaries are in the RF Armed Forces...

Moreover, I learned from them that the officers of the unit calmly went to work from home, no one surrounded them, no one captured them.

I asked about the secret of success (you probably remember that Ukrainian military units
in Crimea and Sevastopol were blocked by invaders), to which they told me that representatives of the Russian Armed Forces came to their unit and offered an option in which no one would touch anyone from this unit and they would be given complete freedom of movement, but only on one condition: they would hand over to the Russian military control over the keys to the armory and the armory itself.

The command of the unit easily agreed, and from now on several armed Russian soldiers stood at the location of the Ukrainian military unit and guarded the weapons shop. This is such harmony.

When you hear from former commanders of Crimean military units words that there was no
order from above, I ask you not to be mistaken and not to think that we are talking about an order to apply
weapons, no! They were eagerly awaiting the order to leave Crimea!” – says the author.

“All this time, Mamchur has not left the screens with his militant rhetoric in the style of Yatsenyuk and promises to stand until the last drop of blood, from which I concluded that there are still miracle heroes in Crimea, and I need to join them, which is what I tried do on March 21, 2014, by personally meeting with Mamchur on Belbek and expressing his readiness to stand shoulder to shoulder with the pilots to protect the unit.

Imagine my surprise when Mamchur, laughing, said that no one was going to shoot, and the interview was just an interview.

The next day, having learned from the news that the assault was beginning, I put on a camouflage uniform, took a knife and moved to Belbek in the hope of getting myself a weapon in battle. Arriving there, I found a picture where the military unit was surrounded by Russian military, self-defense, onlookers and journalists.

In the unit itself, I saw the formation of personnel on the parade ground... without weapons! They proudly stood under the flag of Ukraine, representing the unbroken spirit of the defenders of the Brest Fortress, but only without weapons!

...This is the kind of defense of his unit that Colonel Mamchur, who later became a Hero of Ukraine, organized, as I understand it, precisely for this... I will only say that when the Russians were leading the surrendered Ukrainian military out of the unit in a column, they asked the crowd not to use physical force against them, but simply create a corridor of shame and insults.

Colonel Mamchur was not in this column. He was “kidnapped”, put in a comfortable minibus and taken out of the unit’s territory unnoticed by the crowd. My value judgment, Mamchur agreed and received security guarantees.

And so, yesterday I watched a talk show in which this hero is already in the rank of deputy, but a former officer,
complains about how the army has been destroyed, and that there are not enough planes, tanks, etc. And here I wanted
shout at the screen: “How many planes and machine guns do you need, Colonel, to still
use them in the spring of 2014?! If at the time of the assault by the Russians you only had 50 planes?” By the way, these planes, according to the same Mamchur, are now in service with the DPR,” Bezdomny is indignant.

“A century ago, an officer who so ingloriously disgraced his unit and his homeland would certainly have shot himself, avoiding shame, but times are worse now, Mamchur doomed himself to torture as a deputy to atone for his sins!” – the author concludes.
