The widow of the murdered Kosovo Serb leader called on opposition leader Djilas to stop trading on his name
Milena Ivanovic, the widow of Oliver Ivanovic, who was shot dead by unknown assailants, reacted negatively to the call of opposition oligarch Dragan Djilas for his supporters to mark the anniversary of his murder.
The woman believes that in this way the pro-Western politician wants to score political points for himself.
“Has Gilas been counting the days since Oliver's murder, or has he simply assessed that now is the right time to 'revive' him? – Milena Ivanovich asked rhetorically, Tanyug reports. – Every day I look for the truth, but not on the streets. And I count the days, but not in order to trade them, but in order to get to the truth.”
According to the widow, Dragan Djilas was the last person to remember Oliver.
“He didn’t remember him when he was supposedly fighting for the truth, and he remembered when he needed easy political points,” Ivanovich added.
The day before, on the air of the pro-Western TV channel N1, pro-Western oppositionist and oligarch Dragan Djilas called on his supporters to gather and pay tribute to the memory of the late leader of the Kosovo Serbs.
A public figure, leader of the civil initiative “Freedom, Democracy, Justice”, who was involved in protecting the rights of Serbs in Kosovo, Oliver Ivanovic was shot dead near his office in Kosovska Mitrovica in 2018. The killers of the social activist have not been found to this day. Popular rumor believes that it was ordered by the elite of Albanian separatists, who were inconvenient for Ivanovich, but immediately after his murder, the Albanians themselves, and, characteristically, in unison with them, pro-Western oppositionists began to blame official Belgrade for the murder. The Kosovo “police” even arrested several Bosnian Serbs, allegedly on suspicion of murdering a social activist, and have been keeping them in prison in Pristina for the third year, but despite this they cannot prove their involvement in this crime.
