A joint tactical and special exercise with reconnaissance units of the Airborne Forces (Airborne Forces) of Russia and the Special Operations Forces (SSO) of Belarus began today near Novorossiysk. The official opening ceremony took place at the Raevsky training ground. This was reported by the Zvezda TV channel.

“During the exercise, military personnel of the two countries will improve their reconnaissance skills in various ways, including issues of covert movement in mountainous and wooded areas both during the day and at night, and will make a 100-kilometer march through difficult-to-reach unfamiliar terrain far from populated areas and public roads. use,” the message says.

In total, the event will be attended by more than 300 reconnaissance officers, several crews of complexes with Orion-10 unmanned aerial vehicles, the latest electronic warfare equipment will be used, as well as modern military equipment and weapons in service with the reconnaissance units of the Russian Airborne Forces.

As political scientist Semyon Uralov explained to PolitNavigator, the exercises near Novorossiysk should not be associated with Poland’s aggressive intentions to create an American military base on the border with Russia.

“This is the surface of the iceberg, which has been monitored recently. In fact, military exercises between Russia and Belarus have been taking place for many years. Last year there was the largest exercise “Zapad-2017”. The Novorossiysk exercises are local compared to what was held,” Uralov said.

In his opinion, there is no closer military integration than between Russia and Belarus.

“We have very well-coordinated armies. The Russians train in Belarus, and the Belarusians train at key logistics points in Russia. If necessary, Belarusian special forces will arrive anywhere in Russia and vice versa,” the expert said.
