An unemployed resident of Melitopol set up a workshop for the production of Ukrainian vodka in his garage, for which he was put on trial.

As follows from prosecution materials, at the beginning of 2016, he purchased 2000 liters of alcohol of unknown origin from an unidentified person, which he brought to his garage box, located in one of the Melitopol cooperatives. A whole workshop for the production of counterfeit vodka products was set up there. “Umelets” used original used bottles of well-known Ukrainian brands, such as “Nemirov”, “Morosha”, “Medof”, “Khlebny Dar”, as well as counterfeit excise stamps.
The counterfeit product was successfully sold in retail outlets in the Zaporozhye region. The court sentenced the underground vodka magnate to a fine of 17 hryvnia.
It is worth noting that 3-4 years ago it was unprofitable to produce counterfeit vodka in Ukraine, since its retail price in the store was in the generally accessible range, and therefore purchasing a product of dubious quality “under the counter” was simply impractical.
