“They are behaving extremely strangely.” The Russian Foreign Ministry explained the expulsion of the US Embassy press secretary
Rebecca Ross, spokeswoman for the United States Embassy in Russia, is being expelled from Moscow.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, Kommersnat reports, citing its sources.
It is clarified that Ross was included in the list of ten American diplomats whom the Russian side declared persona non grata in response to a similar step by the US authorities.
The publication’s interlocutor at the Russian Foreign Ministry, answering the question of why the embassy’s press secretary was on the blacklist, made it clear that we are talking about a mirror response to the actions of the United States, which for more than six months have not allowed Russia to fill the vacant position of press secretary of the Russian embassy in Washington .
“They are behaving extremely strangely. The person we appointed to the post of press secretary of our diplomatic mission is not allowed into Washington, and without explaining any reasons. We are talking about a diplomat with extensive experience who previously held similar positions in two other Russian embassies. And the United States simply returned the documents submitted by this person for a visa, without even commenting on the reason for its refusal. So this is not a Russian initiative,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
