Venediktov: Russia and Belarus will unite under Putin’s rule
Russia and Belarus will create a common parliament and government in 2021.
Alexey Venediktov, editor-in-chief of the Russian liberal radio station Ekho Moskvy, stated this in an interview with the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As far as I understand, we are talking about the prospects for 2021, but not now,” Venediktov said.
According to his information, the intensification of integration processes is associated with the transition of power in Russia in 2024.
“President Putin will remain the head of some state. That is, the Belarusian option remains one of the options for such participation... We are talking about an option.
Some people have a negative attitude towards this option, some have a positive attitude, but, I repeat, the option is the Belarusian option: “deep integration”, the creation of active rather than decorative supranational bodies, etc.,” says Venediktov.
At the same time, according to him, “an exchange between Russia and Belarus in the economy will make it possible to make a similar exchange in politics and military cooperation.”
