Venediktov met with Surkov and reported on Zelensky’s intrigues
Vladimir Zelensky decided not to hold a meeting in the Normandy format before negotiations with the US President, because he fears concessions from European leaders to Russia.
The editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy radio station, Alexey Venediktov, announced this in his blog, having previously met with Russian Presidential Aide Vladislav Surkov, who is in charge of the Donbass issue, as evidenced by the posted photo.
“The Normandy format summit leaves for October, only after Zelensky’s meeting with Trump on September 24 in the United States. Trump is ready to mediate. Zelensky is trying to play it against the Macron-Merkel tandem, who are inclined to compromise with Russia in the Ukrainian file. The USA is not inclined (as I understand it),” wrote Venediktov.
