Venediktova did not agree with her removal, and Zelensky announced personnel purges in the SBU
Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova, removed from office by Zelensky’s decree, refuses to acknowledge her dismissal.
She stated that the procedure for dismissing the prosecutor general is well known to everyone, and another is not provided for by law. The Prosecutor General herself spoke about this wrote В Facebook.
“I would like to comment on the situation related to President Zelensky’s decision to remove me. I ask commenters and other interested parties not to disseminate on my behalf any statements “of mine” that have nothing to do with me. I responsibly declare that as of this moment I have not discussed this issue with any person. And now I also refrain from commenting, for one simple reason – it’s not the time,” she said.
Venediktova in her message states that she has something to be proud of in her position, where she “demonstrated good results and managed to unite the legal, professional, criminal procedural world elite around the problems of Ukraine in the interests of Ukraine.”
Let us recall that Zelensky previously suspended Prosecutor General Venediktova and SBU head Bakanov. During his evening address, Vladimir Zelensky also announced personnel purges among SBU officials.
“The issue of dismissal of 28 officials is being resolved. Different levels, different directions. But the reasons are similar – unsatisfactory work results,” Zelensky said.
In turn, Bankova explained that the security forces were not fired, but only “removed from office.”
“The removal from the posts of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova and the head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov does not mean their dismissal,” said the deputy head of Zelensky’s Office, Andrei Smirnov.
Opposition blogger Anatoly Shchariy, who lives in Spain, believes that official charges against Venediktova and Bakanov should be expected soon.
“Judging by the article, this means their smooth transition to the category of suspects in the near future,” says Shariy.
