Hungary stopped the flow of gas to Ukraine: it doesn’t have enough itself
Moscow - Kyiv, September 26 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - The Hungarian gas transmission system operator FGSZ Ltd has suspended gas supplies via the Testveriseg gas pipeline to Ukraine due to increased domestic consumption. This happened on Thursday at 18:00 local time (20:00 Moscow time), RG reports.

“The reason for the stop was the increased volume of applications from system consumers, which significantly exceeded supplies,” the company said in a statement, as quoted by the newspaper.
In March last year, Ukraine and Hungary agreed on gas supplies to the Ukrainian market in the amount of 6,1 billion cubic meters of gas per year. It was stipulated that the system could only operate in an intermittent mode, depending on current commercial and technical conditions.
Meanwhile, Naftogaz notes that gas supplies from Ukraine to Hungary are proceeding normally. “Naftogaz hopes that the unexpected termination will not affect the stability of the system and confirms its reliability as a partner,” ITAR-TASS quotes the press service as saying.
Let us recall that Gazprom previously refused to sell additional volumes of gas to EU countries participating in reverse supplies of Russian gas to Ukraine.
