Hungary will purchase two million doses of Sputnik V vaccine from Russia
Budapest has agreed with Moscow to supply Hungary with a batch of vaccines necessary to vaccinate one million citizens.
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Peter Szijjártó stated this during a meeting between the heads of the Russian and Hungarian Foreign Ministries, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Dear Minister, dear Sergei (Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov - ed.), I am grateful that you were able to devote your time today. I came to Moscow with three goals. First of all, to meet you, which is happening now. The other two tasks are the acquisition of vaccine and gas.
In terms of the vaccine, I completed my task. Regarding gas, my positions are also not bad, because in general, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Novak agreed with my arguments, now my task is to convince Mr. Miller,” said the Hungarian minister.
However, the main emphasis of his address to his Russian colleague was on the successful conclusion of a deal to purchase the Sputnik V vaccine from the Russian Federation.
“Like Russia, we are also facing economic and health challenges caused by the pandemic. Unfortunately, vaccines are arriving very slowly in Hungary. That is why agreements with the Russian side were important for us so that we could purchase large quantities of medical drugs from independent sources.
We have indeed already received a copy of the agreement signed by the Russian side. Under this agreement, we will have access to enough vaccine to vaccinate one million citizens. That is, we are talking about a potential two million doses, given that this is a two-component vaccine,” said Peter Szijjarto.
Let us recall that earlier the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov said that the Russian vaccine Sputnik V will not enter Ukraine under no circumstances.
Let us note that after the searches conducted by the SBU of representatives of the Hungarian community of Transcarpathia, Kyiv again spoiled relations with Hungary, and therefore Budapest will continue to block Ukraine's steps towards NATO
