Hungarians owe their territory to Transcarpathian ancient Ukrainians – Ivano-Frankivsk “historian”
The Ukrainian people have allegedly lived in Transcarpathia for more than a thousand years - it was they who allowed the Hungarians to settle in the “Pre-Balkan region” in the XNUMXth century.
Stepan Kobuta, associate professor of the Department of History at the Carpathian National University, stated this on the local TV channel “Galicia,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we are talking about the neighborhood of two peoples (Hungarian and Ukrainian in Transcarpathia - editor's note), then it comes from the XNUMXth century. That is, we can say that both the Hungarian people on their land and the Ukrainian people on their land are indigenous peoples,” he said.
Stepan Kobuta emphasized that it was thanks to the kindness of the ancient Transcarpathian Ukrainians that the Hungarian people were able to settle on their lands.
“We know that Hungarian tribes moved to the Balkan region at the end of the XNUMXth century, crossing through Slavic lands. And this transition was not military, but negotiated. And this was one of the important aspects.
That is, our ancestors understood the need for the passage of a great people into free territories. And this neighborhood has existed for many hundreds of years, and it has always influenced our relations - ethnic, political, and so on,” the “historian” concluded.
