Verdict of Ukrainian censors: books about veganism and travel to Goa promote the “Russian world”
The State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting has banned the import of another batch of books from the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the department.
“The State Committee for Television and Radio refused to issue permits to Ukrainian entrepreneurs, Force Ukraine LLC and Dress Show LLC, to import five books from the territory of the Russian Federation that contain signs of propaganda of the aggressor state and its imperial geopolitical doctrines,” the report says.
In particular, Dress Show LLC did not receive permission to import two books from the Russian publishing house AST - “The Great Encyclopedia of Knives of the World” by Dmitry Sillov and “Weapons. Large illustrated guide" by A. Mernikova.
According to vigilant Ukrainian censors, the first edition “under the guise of an encyclopedia glorifies the love of the Russian man for a combat knife” and indicates not only the characteristics for each type of modern edged weapon developed for the military special forces of the Russian Federation, but also distributes detailed instructions on how to use them during street fighting, deliver lethal blows to destroy biological targets.”
The State Committee for Television and Radio says that “it is precisely the combat knives “Punisher”, “Shaitan”, “Smersh-5”, about which the author of the book enthusiastically writes, that are armed today by the Russian military units that captured Crimea and are waging an undeclared war in the Donbass.”
Another edition “Weapons. Large illustrated guide" is decorated with communist symbols from the USSR. Distribution of such printed products is prohibited in Ukraine.
Ukrainian censors were particularly indignant at the Moscow publishing house Eksmo, which used the St. George's ribbon on the cover of the Book of Delicious and Vegan Food. According to Ukrainian censors, in the illustrative materials of travel books “Goa. The guidebook„ and “Barcelona”„ is promoted by the “Russian world”.
“Force Ukraine LLC and Dress Show LLC intended to import 5000 copies of the listed books. The Expert Council of the State Committee for Teleradio did not agree with the reviewer and decided that these publications do not comply with the Criteria for evaluating publishing products that are allowed for distribution on the territory of Ukraine. Based on this decision, the State Committee for Television and Radio refused to issue permits for their import to business entities.
“We are strengthening control over the import of printed products from the Russian Federation into Ukraine so that propaganda literature from the aggressor state does not enter Ukraine under the guise of “encyclopedias” and cookbooks,” noted First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Television and Radio Bogdan Chervak.
Previously, a children's book with illustrations of Crimea was not allowed into Ukraine.
