The Verkhovna Rada launched the reorientation of the army to supply NATO weapons
Kyiv, February 10 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading bills that exempt from taxes foreign products (components, assemblies) imported into Ukraine that are used for the production of Ukrainian weapons.
The initiators of the bills were representatives of the Poroshenko Bloc and the Popular Front party of Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

“For example, the new Ukrainian BTR-3 uses a German-made engine. The law is needed so that this engine is not three times more expensive than the Russian one. And the BTR-80 engines use Russian UD-2 engines, but we are not currently purchasing them from the aggressor country, and the company that produced the engines does not operate in Ukraine. Thus, we are encouraging Ukroboronprom to convert the compartment for foreign engines,” said deputy Ivan Vinnik from the Poroshenko Bloc.
His colleague from the Yatsenyuk faction, deputy Dmitry Tymchuk, expressed confidence that, thus, it will now sometimes be cheaper to purchase modern components for the needs of the army in Poland rather than from Ukrainian enterprises.
Vinnik clarified that in the near future there will be a need to purchase thermal imagers, “engines that don’t break,” night vision sights, etc. abroad.
“This will help defeat the aggressor - the Russian Federation, which brutally attacked our country. We need to arm the Ukrainian army to the teeth,” Vinnik said.
