The Verkhovna Rada is preparing a law to ban Russian films

Kyiv, January 13 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading amendments to the law on the protection of information space in order to combat Russian propaganda on TV. After amendments are made, the document can soon be approved and come into force.

The authors of the innovations explain that the goal is to combat “latent propaganda” of “ideas hostile to Ukraine”, which Russia has been conducting for “years” in films, programs, documentaries, etc.

In particular, “any audiovisual production that promotes or glorifies any law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation” will be banned in the future.

Penalties will be imposed for violators.

The new law will not apply to films created before 1991.
