“With this resolution, the Ukrainian parliament makes recommendations to unilaterally demarcate the border. There is such an international example – Estonia,” said Oleg Tyagnibok in an explanatory speech. In addition, it was proposed to temporarily reduce the number of checkpoints and strengthen control on the border with Russia and Transnistria. At the same time, only 203 people immediately voted for the project, which caused dissatisfaction among the deputies from the coalition: the PR and the communists did not give their votes.

“An example of the work of the fifth column is obvious. Give it in the newspaper “Voice of Ukraine”. Who didn't vote to close the border from terrorists? They are killing our border guards. “Whoever does not support is a traitor, a fifth column,” said Vyacheslav Kirilenko, noting that it is necessary to close all checkpoints on the border with Russia, except three.

In turn, Anna German said that the Party of Regions supports the decision “unquestionably.” She emphasized that the relevant decisions were made at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council yesterday.

“The decisions of the National Security and Defense Council are introduced by a presidential decree. We can’t make it so that we are in such a serious situation as swan, pike and crayfish. Let's agree on our positions and vote. Those who want to cross from the East, we need to preserve the crossings so that people have the opportunity,” said Herman. In response, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov stated that the proposed decision of the Verkhovna Rada does not contradict the one adopted at the National Security and Defense Council,

“I want to tell former KGB agents and current FSB agents that peace cannot be achieved if terrorists and equipment calmly cross the border. Those who do not vote for this resolution are accomplices... We will have to answer according to the laws of war,” said Svoboda member Yuri Sirotyuk. Coalition MPs also stated that “Yanukovych and Putin riddled the border: more than 240 crossings, 2,8 border guards per kilometer.”

“Put yourself at that roadblock. And just try not to vote. You will be cursed by the people,” Alexander Kuzmuk addressed his colleagues. Alexander Turchynov also proposed an amendment: the number of checkpoints on the border will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.

After this, the deputies returned to a second vote: 261 deputies voted in favor. Moreover, Turchynov said that the names of deputies who did not vote would be published in the press.

Let us remind you that yesterday NSDC Secretary Andrei Parubiy said that the Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to unilaterally demarcate the border with Russia.
