“The aggressor state Russia provided its Channel One more than 3,7 billion rubles last year alone, and the private channel NTV received 750 million in state subsidies. It is clear that under such circumstances, domestic television companies cannot compete with foreign television companies, both in terms of the fight for the TV viewer, that is, by producing a high-quality television product, and in terms of the fight for the advertiser,” said Elena Kondratyuk, secretary of the Committee on Freedom of Speech.
“As you know very well, some of the channels that discredit Ukrainian reality and support the aggressor are prohibited from broadcasting in Ukraine. But the Russian state is throwing away millions of money to create hundreds of niche channels that are present in our information space: they talk about hunting, or about a child, they show historical films about the terrible history of Ukraine, among other things. In order to protect the Ukrainian information space, in order to support Ukrainian channels, it is proposed to ban advertising on such channels,” added MP Nikolai Knyazhitsky.
“The bill is absolutely correct, we will support it. Indeed, this, as they say, is ideologically correct, and it is economically correct, because Ukrainian channels receive additional profit, we will protect our advertising market,” supported Svoboda member Andrei Ilyenko.
