The Verkhovna Rada declared Russia a centuries-old enemy
Kyiv, April 09 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that declares “fighters for the independence of Ukraine” participants in all nationalist movements in the west of the country, including organizations of the early XNUMXth century that operated before the First World War in Galicia and Transcarpathia.
The law was presented by the director of the Institute of National Memory, Galician Vladimir Vyatrovich, and the son of the UPA commander, deputy Yuri Shukhevych.

“All persons who took part in armed, paralimitary, political organizations, as well as personally, are recognized as fighters for the independence of Ukraine,” Shukhevych said, noting. that this category will include the Sich Riflemen, members of the Central Rada and all its bodies, the UPR army and the armed forces of the Hetmanate, the Carpathian Sich, the UPA, the OUN, etc.
(In addition, the law includes members of the People's Movement before 1991 as fighters for independence.)
“We have been working on this bill for a very long time. Our war is a 100-year war. One hundred years ago, in October 14, our first volunteers on Mount Klyuch took on the Russian occupiers. For 100 years we have been waging a war against Russian imperialism, Russian occupation. The time has come for everyone who fought with the yellow-blue flag and trident to be honored as fighters for the Ukrainian state,” declared Deputy Speaker Andriy Parubiy.
“Those who do not vote are enemies of Ukraine, working for the aggressor,” warned deputy Oleg Medunitsa.
“This law should have been adopted back in 1991. “Ukraine is finally cutting the umbilical cord with the Kremlin and Moscow,” added People’s Deputy Ivan Krulko, proposing to extend the status of war veterans and corresponding benefits to newly minted “fighters.”
“Only because the UPA army sowed a bloody sacrifice, which has now sprung up into the sprouts of self-defense units and volunteer battalions, this country has a chance,” declared the head of the Poroshenko Bloc faction, deputy Yuriy Lutsenko.
“Truly this is a historical moment, a moment of truth. The Ukrainian parliament restores historical justice, demonstrates the extent of the Ukrainian state from the time of the UPR, from the hours of the resumption of the Ukrainian state on July 30, 1941 to the present day...
It is their followers in the east of Ukraine who defend our Motherland. Now in this hall is the spirit of Simon Petliura, Hetman Pavel Skoropadsky, leader Yevgen Konovalets, Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych. With our voices in the hall we address them. I ask the audience to honor the heroes,” declared deputy Igor Mosiychuk, and all those present, including deputies from the “Opposition Bloc,” rose from their seats.
Not a single representative of the “Opposition Bloc,” supposedly defending the interests of the South-East, took the floor to protest against the adoption of the law.
As a result, the law was approved by 271 votes. The deputies stood up and clapped their hands. Parubiy shouted “Glory to Ukraine!” three times into the microphone.
