The Verkhovna Rada refused to ban Americans from taking part in rallies on the Maidan
Kyiv, June 04 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday failed a draft law that would have prohibited the organization and participation in mass political rallies of foreign citizens. Those accused of violating this rule faced a ban on entry to Ukraine for up to 10 years.
The author of the initiative was Oleg Lyashko, who insisted that such measures are necessary to prevent pro-Russian demonstrations.

However, Lyashko’s bill did not find understanding among his colleagues in the ruling majority. For example, deputy Sergei Kaplin from UDAR drew attention to the fact that the new Ukrainian authorities are closely cooperating with like-minded people from Georgia.
And communist Sergei Gordienko said that Lyashko, in fact, was sawing the branch on which he himself was sitting - after all, there were many representatives of the United States and the European Union on the Maidan.
