The Verkhovna Rada repealed the law that allowed advertising in Russian
Kyiv, February 23 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Verkhovna Rada repealed the law authored by “regionals” Vadim Kolesnichenko and Sergei Kivalov, which allowed declaring the Russian language regional in places where the Russian-speaking population lives compactly, as well as allowing advertising in Russian, the opening of Russian classes in schools and so on.
The corresponding decision was supported by 232 deputies.

“The law was adopted in gross violation of procedures, the Constitution and laws of Ukraine,” deputy Vyacheslav Kirilenko explained the need for today’s decision.
“Today you demonstrated which way you want to go to reach a compromise. This is your first step in power,” said “Regional” Nestor Shufrich.
However, deputy Arseniy Yatsenyuk brushed aside the accusations, emphasizing that the Constitution of Ukraine already protects the Russian language. “I appeal to all Russian-speaking people: the rights of the Russian-speaking population are protected by law and the Constitution,” Yatsenyuk said.
“The Ukrainian land, our ethnic spaces - from the Xiang to the Don - breathe exclusively Ukrainian dialects. Any other language that came to our land is alien, and some are occupied,” deputy Irina Farion clarified the position of the new government.
