The Verkhovna Rada dismissed Nalyvaichenko without giving him the opportunity to explain himself
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for the resignation of Valentin Nalyvaichenko from the post of head of the SBU. The corresponding decision was supported by 248 deputies without discussion at the meeting.
This caused a protest from deputy Oleg Lyashko, who caused bewilderment why Nalyvaichenko did not speak in the hall with a report on the work done, and the issue of the head of the special service was being resolved again behind the scenes.
“It seems to me that the whole country has been discussing the issue for a week now. Nothing tragic happened,” speaker Vladimir Groysman shrugged it off.

Earlier, deputy Sergei Leshchenko from the Poroshenko Bloc stated that Nalyvaichenko’s resignation was the president’s response to Dmitry Firtash’s confession about providing assistance to Poroshenko to win the elections.
“Nalivaichenko is in power according to the quota of the UDAR party.” I am more than sure that he enjoys the political and oligarchic support of Dmitry Firtash. I have many reasons for this. They had a meeting with Poroshenko in Vienna before the elections, they agreed, obviously, shared power. It is generally accepted that Firtash was on Klitschko's side in this part of the pact. And, just like that, Nalyvaichenko received a position under the Firtash-Klitschko quota.
Firtash in Vienna revealed the behind-the-scenes part of the policy and went beyond what he could do under this agreement. He presented Poroshenko as a six oligarch, and in order to restore his full status, Poroshenko needs to prove that this is not so. Accordingly, at that moment Nalyvaichenko’s fate was decided,” Leshchenko said.
