The Verkhovna Rada will send its ultimatum to NATO
The Ukrainian parliament adopted a resolution “On an appeal to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the national parliaments of NATO member states” regarding Ukraine’s membership in NATO.”
The corresponding initiative was made by the head of the Popular Front faction, Maxim Burbak, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today we have made historic decisions and enshrined in the Constitution the unchangeable course towards membership in the EU and NATO. But this work needs to be continued. We are initiating a resolution on the Verkhovna Rada’s appeal to the leaders of NATO member states, the North Atlantic Council and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and the national parliaments of the Alliance member states regarding the provision of an action plan for Ukraine regarding NATO membership. We must call on NATO to urgently initiate a formal, mutually binding accession procedure,” Bourbak said.
As a result of the voting, this resolution was adopted by a majority of votes - 243 out of 340 deputies voted in favor.
Let us remind you that at today’s meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, deputies adopted amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on the “strategic course towards the EU and NATO”.
