As deputy Oleg Lyashko explained, the scheme will be as follows: first, the Security Council submits to the Verkhovna Rada a proposal to declare a particular organization terrorist.
Whether a citizen belongs to a terrorist organization will be determined by the court, added deputy Yuriy Lutsenko.
The court’s decision will be made extremely quickly, within one working day, a representative of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, who was present at the Rada meeting, assured.
Deputy Nimchenko, a representative of the Opposition Bloc, tried to criticize the government’s plans when he came to the podium. “The bills provide for the implementation not of justice, but of a trial court,” he began, after which the hall was filled with a dissatisfied roar. As a result, Nimchenko did not have time to explain the essence of the claims in the minute allotted to him, saying only that the trials would take place without the presence of the accused. In turn, speaker Vladimir Groysman did not extend the time of his speech.
The bill was then approved in the first reading by 270 votes of deputies.
