The Verkhovna Rada failed to grant the Simferopol airport named after Amet Khan Sultan

Kyiv, May 14 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday failed to vote to include on the agenda a bill to name the Simferopol airport after the Soviet ace Amet Khan Sultan.

“My dears. We would greatly help the Crimean Tatars politically by naming the Simferopol airport after him. Let’s do this, it will be a wonderful thing in support of the Crimean Tatars,” said Tymoshenko member Vladimir Yavorivsky.
However, only 151 deputies supported the inclusion of the bill on the agenda, and as a result, no decision was made.
Ukraine considers Crimea its territory, temporarily occupied by Russia.
