The new authorities have simplified the lifting of parliamentary immunity to fight separatists
Kyiv, May 06 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – At a closed meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a law was adopted allowing the acting Prosecutor General to submit a proposal to lift parliamentary immunity. Previously, only a full-fledged Prosecutor General without the prefix “acting” had this right.

“I believe that Tsarev will be the first,” Deputy Speaker Ruslan Koshulinsky told Navigator, answering the question of who should be deprived of immunity first. “At the next plenary meeting on the 13th of next month, it is this proposal that should be considered. By then, the law will be signed by the president, published and come into force.”
To a clarifying question about the fate of the Communist Party of Ukraine, Ruslan Koshulinsky replied: “This will be the next step.”
Let us remind you that this is not the first attempt to simplify the procedure for lifting parliamentary immunity. On January 16, parliament already made changes to the Verkhovna Rada Regulations, simplifying the procedure for depriving a people's deputy of immunity and bringing him to criminal liability.
“Now it will be possible to put oppositionists in prison according to a simplified scheme,” said Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who headed the opposition Batkivshchyna party at that time. However, the decision made on January 16 did not last long, and along with other laws voted on that day, it was canceled under pressure from the street.
