The Verkhovna Rada once again failed to transfer the GTS to Western control
Kyiv, July 31 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – At a closed meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, deputies once again failed to vote for Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s initiative to transfer 49% of the shares of the Ukrainian gas transportation system to the control of EU and US companies.
Deputy Alexander Briginets reported this on his Facebook page. “The gas transportation system was not leased – repeated second reading,” he wrote.

Yatsenyuk previously explained the need for EU and US companies to participate in the management of the gas transportation system by saying that then the West would refuse to support South Stream.
However, Yatsenyuk's former allies, the Svoboda faction, said that the bill contains a threat of corruption. In particular, it does not guarantee that Western companies that will apply for the GTS will not be associated with the Russian Gazprom.
