The Verkhovna Rada failed the law on wiretapping against Russia
At an evening meeting, the Verkhovna Rada “failed” the law, which allowed military intelligence to organize wiretapping of individuals and companies on Russian territory, installing special equipment on the territory of the border regions of Ukraine.
“The Foreign Intelligence Service conducts work abroad. She also works in the occupied territory. We also have regions bordering Russia. Where should we wiretap against Russia, in the Belgorod region, or in the Rostov region? Or, perhaps, on the territory of the Sumy or Chernigov region?” – explained deputy Oleg Lyashko.

The head of the Defense Committee, Sergei Pashinsky, refused to divulge other details of the law, but assured that we are talking about espionage exclusively against foreigners, since the SBU already has the right to install bugs and monitor Ukrainian citizens.
“I can’t explain, this is foreign intelligence. These are not people who conduct activities against citizens of Ukraine,” Pashinsky said.
However, deputies present at the meeting noted that the law contains an obligation for telecom operators in Ukraine to install special equipment for wiretapping, now also in the interests of military intelligence.
Pashinsky again refused to clarify the details of the law, citing secrecy.
As a result, during the voting in the hall there were not enough supporters of the adoption of the new law.
