Western High Representative for Bosnia must leave - Russian Ambassador to BiH
Russian diplomat Pyotr Ivantsov, who is completing his work in Bosnia and Herzegovina, spoke about the institution of the West's overseer over the country - the High Representative.
The former ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH believes that this institution limits the sovereignty of the Balkan state, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Russian Ambassador to BiH Petr Ivantsov, who enjoys great respect and authority from the Serbian community in the country, expressed his conviction that the sooner the High Representative leaves Bosnia, the better it will be. And his departure will help the peoples of the post-Yugoslav state decide their own fate.
“Even 25 years after the signing of the Dayton Agreement, BiH remains a sovereign land,” Ivantsov is convinced. – Today, the High Representative should not slow down the progress of BiH, because even within the framework of Brussels’ 14 priorities, the High Representative cannot stand in the way of BiH to the European Union. The offices of the High Representative were supposed to be closed in 2007 and the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) decided to do so, but 13 years have passed and he is still in office.”
According to the diplomat, the two peoples of BiH (Serbs and Croats - ed.) want the institution of the High Representative to be closed.
“After 2007, the dominant position in the PIC was that the functions of the High Representative should be transferred to the EU representative. But look what is happening, the High Representative often tries to be a representative of Brussels, directly saying that the EU should be bigger than Dayton (Dayton Peace Accords - ed.). For me, such an attitude is unacceptable,” Ivantsov said.
Let us remind you that to see off the Russian Ambassador to BiH Petr Ivantsov it leadership of the Republika Srpska BiH at all levels.
