“I’ll return as a colonel or a dead man”: Vucic on the upcoming meeting with Putin
The issue of supply volumes and gas prices will be the most important in the upcoming negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Serbia.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated this in an interview with Vladimir Solovyov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I look forward to meeting Putin with great hope. I have to admit that I'm worried. A lot of everything. The Serbs have a saying: I'm barely alive until this meeting takes place. I will return to Serbia either as a colonel or as a dead man. Everything depends on President Putin’s response,” Vucic said.
He explained that in order to maintain the growth rate of the Serbian economy, it is necessary to increase the volume of supplies of Russian gas, but at the same time his country will not be able to pay for it at the prices that are currently prevailing in Europe.
“President Putin has always shown understanding towards us even in more difficult circumstances. I hope that this time he will understand us on the issue of gas prices and volumes,” Vucic said.
