ATO militants who returned home were greeted with flowers and applause
A grand march took place in Ternopil, dedicated to the return of an artillery brigade from the so-called “ATO” zone, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The meeting of Ukrainian artillerymen, who fired at the territory of the DPR and LPR from weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, was held with pomp.
“In September 2014, we managed to restore the military unit in Ternopil, where the 44th artillery brigade is now stationed. Those guys who went to defend the state are volunteers. Subsequently, they were joined by regular units of the Ukrainian army, among which was the Ternopil artillery brigade. It was thanks to all of them and thanks to your efforts that the Russian occupier was stopped. Therefore, we will make every effort to ensure that our soldier feels comfortable both in the Ternopil region and on the front line,” said Stepan Barna, chairman of the regional state administration, addressing the military personnel.
Ternopil residents greeted the Ukrainian artillerymen with flowers and applause.
Both the DPR and LPR have repeatedly stated that the 44th separate artillery brigade was seen shelling residential areas of the Donbass republics. Also, intelligence of the Donetsk People’s Republic in November 2017 recorded the presence of the third howitzer artillery division of the 44th separate artillery brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Dzerzhinsk, controlled by the Kyiv security forces. Donetsk intelligence established the location of six units of 152-mm D-20 howitzers of the 44th artillery brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The howitzers were placed four kilometers from the contact line and in residential areas of Dzerzhinsk.
In turn, LPR Speaker Andrei Marochko reported that in Lisichansk, which is under the control of Kiev, military personnel of the 44th separate artillery brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces organize daily “gatherings in cafes with copious libations of alcohol.” Such feasts, as a rule, ended with the use of personal weapons due to a showdown.
