The likelihood of Russian-American clashes in Syria has increased sharply
After recent events, the likelihood of armed incidents between the American and Russian military in Syria has increased sharply. Chairman of the PIR Center board, retired Lieutenant General Evgeniy Buzhinsky, stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

“In a situation of uncertainty, when the mutual notification mechanism is suspended, the likelihood of incidents has increased significantly. And any incident that results in the death of American or Russian military personnel is fraught with escalation. Considering the saturation of the region with our and American means of destruction, I don’t even want to fantasize about this topic,” Buzhinsky said.
In his opinion, the United States deliberately aggravated relations.
“They seemed to warn our Ministry of Defense 2 hours in advance. But we have several communication channels with the Americans. There is direct communication between the chiefs of staff, which works very quickly, and there is a mechanism of interaction established in accordance with the memorandum, which is now suspended. The duty shifts slowly inform each other. If they really wanted to inform, they would have acted differently,” Buzhinsky said.
