As the publication notes, Fillon said that before sanctions can be lifted, certain steps are required from Russia, adding that Ukraine is also not doing what it should to ensure peace.
“I am convinced that economic sanctions are absolutely ineffective. We must find another way for dialogue,” Fillon told reporters after a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
He also added: “I don’t want Trump to talk to Russia at our expense. This will have disastrous consequences for Europe if Trump goes over our heads, which is not excluded.”
Let us recall that on January 14, 2017, French right-wing forces officially nominated the winner of the primaries of the conservative Republican Party, former Prime Minister Francois Fillon, as a presidential candidate.
