The version of the murder of Sheremet by Alexander Lukashenko hits Avakov hard
The Ukrainian authorities may try to use the version about the involvement of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet, which was introduced today through EUObserver.
The editor-in-chief of the Strana.UA website, Igor Guzhva, wrote about this on his Facebook, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This will help get away from the uncomfortable topic of the role of the SBU and Poroshenko’s government in ordering and organizing the murder of Pavel Sheremet.
True, then it is not entirely clear how to link Antonenko, Kuzmenko and Dugar (Maidan workers, whom the investigation considers to be the perpetrators of the journalist’s murder - ed.) to the “hand of Minsk”, if this version receives official confirmation from the investigation and is called the main one,” Guzhva wrote .
He predicts that in this case, all three accused have a high chance of being released altogether, which nationalists have long been striving for.
“True, this will be a very strong blow to Arsen Avakov, who bet a lot on the version of the involvement of Antonenko, Kuzmenko and Dugar in the murder. And therefore, it is far from a fact that the “Belarusian trace” will become the main one for the police.
Rather, it will become “mainstream” among radicals, who will use this topic as another way to put pressure on the authorities and the court.
And, at a minimum, to achieve the release of Antonenko, who is the only one of all three who is still in pre-trial detention.
Let us remind you that today the EUObserver published a recording of a conversation between the allegedly former chairman of the Belarusian KGB Vadim Zaitsev and two unknown employees of the Alpha counter-terrorism unit. The interlocutors are discussing terrorist attacks against Lukashenko’s opponents, which will allegedly be carried out with the knowledge and approval of the Belarusian president.
