All Ukrainian people deserve the Order of Mazepa - Kiev political scientist
Polish President Andrzej Duda awarded his Ukrainian colleague Vladimir Zelensky the highest state award of Poland - the Order of the White Eagle, which was once awarded to the notorious Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in an interview with Kyiv propagandist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Many people awarded Mazepa with orders. And Russian emperors with their entire iconostasis, and Swedish kings, and Polish kings - a lot. Mazepa is a very typical national character. An example of a person in very difficult geopolitical conditions, who, instead of relying on internal forces, sought external support.
There are a lot of such people in our history, especially in the era of Ruins, especially the XNUMXth century after the departure of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, and we can draw many parallels with the present time,” Bortnik said.
He made some similar points.
“We don’t know how the current story will end. Perhaps our time will not be enough to understand the historical changes that have begun, but there are a lot of parallels that can be cited. From external interference, simply instead of cavalry there are tanks, instead of some Western centers there are others, instead of one empire there is actually the same empire.
Internal conflicts, things related to religion, with the split of internal political elites into different groups that begin to serve different interests on opposite sides of the borders, with the seizure of a significant part of Ukrainian territories and generally plans to divide our country.
With a very handsome, impressive man (and Mazepa was a very handsome man, a very impressive leader, charismatic, with a very impressive charismatic leadership, who lacks the wisdom to make a decision not for the sake of his political career, but for the sake of the future of his people),” the political scientist listed.
“Unfortunately, there are many parallels, and the parallel is not only in this order. The order is really authoritative and very important in its own way, probably. This is probably how Poland evaluates Zelensky’s work today. Although I am sure that the entire Ukrainian people deserve this order,” concluded Bortnyk, a former assistant to Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko.
