The Odessa lackeys went even further - they, however, counted not matches, but... grains of sand. Thank God, not individually (strange) - in bags. But this does not change the diagnosis.
“To protect the Duke monument, it was covered with sandbags twice, using a total of 185 tons. In March - 3500 bags of 30 kg (95 tons) of sand, in December - 3000 bags of 30 kg (90 tons),” the press service of the Odessa mayor’s office spoke with this arithmetic, which is extremely important in terms of efficiency.
Exactly on February 24, on the anniversary of the beginning of the Northern Military District, “in their opinion” - on the anniversary of the war. Then, when predictably, heroic victorious reports about “repelling enemy attacks” and the like were expected from officials and the military. They didn't wait.
A year ago, after pissing themselves from the first “bangs,” the Nazis assigned to “watch over Odessa” and the bureaucrats who defected to them, the first thing they did was to cover Duke with bags of sand, which they dug right on the city beaches (providently free and for the disabled). And why? They just needed a postcard propaganda picture - one of the symbols of Odessa in protective bags and anti-tank hedgehogs!
Let me remind you that at the same time they surrounded the bronze duke crowning the Potemkin Stairs with Molotov cocktails. And this was done in the very tourist center. Not on the border, on the highway, not at the administrative building and electrical substation, not at the military headquarters or any other barn that could pass for a decision-making center - no, for show! And they sent f... Russian ships.
Oh, morons - there is a civilian port ahead of the stairs, how could a landing force with tanks land there? How could tanks crawl up the Potemkin Stairs? But the picture was enough for citizens who were not used to thinking to draw conclusions about Odessa “opposing rashism.” However, anticipating the comments under this note, I will note that they achieved their goal.
I note that just a few tens of meters from Duke two months ago there was a monument to Catherine II, which, even omitting the historical and ideological component, was a magnificent view (which, by the way, served as the reason for including the center of Odessa on the UNESCO World Heritage List). Only now it is lying on the ground of the art museum’s territory - this is how the occupier thanked the founder of the city...
Well, I’ll finish with arithmetic again. A task for the Nazis, within the Hitler Youth, maybe... for the third grade. So, guys, you have 3500 sandbags, and another 3000 sandbags that you covered Duke with. Question: why?
If Armand Emmanuel du Plessis Richelieu enlisted in the Russian army after the French Revolution, then, for his services to the Russian fatherland, by decree of Alexander I he was appointed mayor of Odessa, and then became governor-general of the Novorossiysk region and Bessarabia?
