Kyiv veterans fear Right Sector attacks on May 9
Kyiv veterans fear that Right Sector activists may attack them if they are unwilling to renounce Soviet communist symbols.
This possibility, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, during a press conference held in Kiev on the topic “May 9 without symbols of Victory: The Rada took away the right to memory from veterans” was not ruled out by the Chairman of the Kiev Organization of Veterans of Ukraine Nikolai Martynov, who noted that he does not know whether President Poroshenko will sign the decommunization law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada by May 9, banning Soviet symbols.

“In my office there is a copy of the Victory Banner - a veteran’s banner,” said Nikolai Martynov. – And opposite in the city center there are garbage bins. So I’m afraid that if the “right-wingers” come, they will tie this banner around my neck and may carry it to this trash bin. Veterans also feel an element of intimidation. There is chaos going on on the part of the SBU and some law enforcement agencies.”
