Maidan veterans came to the conclusion: Capitulation is inevitable
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was seized by an irrational conviction that a personal meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin could move the situation forward.
However, Ukraine now has nothing to offer either Moscow or the Normandy Four, where only capitulation is expected from Kyiv.
Vitaly Kulik, a political scientist and Maidan activist, director of the Center for Research on Civil Society Problems, said this on air on the Khvylya channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If we are ready to tighten the noose around our necks ourselves, we must follow the Steinmeier formula to the end. Moreover, in my opinion, this whole game with all this Steinmeir is connected with the fact that Zelensky attaches too much importance to a personal meeting with President Putin.
He believes that the personal charm of such a universal leader as Zelensky will influence Putin, and he will wipe away a tear and say: “Okay, Vova, let’s make peace.”
Zelensky has this irrational belief that a personal meeting with Putin can influence something and get things moving.
But Putin has clicked people like Zelensky more than once throughout his tenure.
Moreover, he will make Zelensky think that this is his victory, and this will be a complete defeat for the country of Ukraine.
We will lose from this meeting, because we have nothing to go to Putin for negotiations with, we can only accept his conditions, the Russian conditions of our surrender,” the political scientist is convinced.
“It’s clear why Russia is tightening [the pressure], it sees a chance now and it’s just raising the stakes, it’s starting to throw in these statements from Pushilin, including from the ORDLO members, that only the capitulation of Ukraine and so on,” noted the host of the program, journalist-Maidan activist Yuri Romanenko.
“And Chesnakova’s excellent statement that Ukraine will receive only conditional sovereignty over the territories, that’s all they can get from the Minsk agreements - it’s all true!” Kulik picked up.
“This is undisguised cynicism of the Russian side regarding Ukraine. And our diplomats and our politicians don’t see this, they don’t want to notice.
Moreover, we are playing out some small things, focusing on the technical implementation of the Minsk agreements or the same Steinmeier formula and do not see the global context, and the global context is capitulation,” added the Ukrainian political scientist.
