Veterans of the invisible front. Why has the SVO been carried out not “in Ukraine” for a long time?

Today, in the first reading, the State Duma granted the status of combat veterans to volunteers - participants in the Northern Military District. Corresponding amendments were made to the federal law “On Veterans”. Now, if these amendments pass the second reading and are signed by the president, volunteers and members of their families, like regular military personnel, will enjoy benefits and social support.

“After the final adoption of the law and its entry into force, it will apply to legal relations that arose from February 24, 2022 in the territories of Ukraine, the DPR and the LPR. In Zaporozhye and Kherson regions - from September 30, 2022,” the Duma press service clarifies.

Let me remind you that according to Putin’s decree, all military personnel participating in the military service received the status of veteran of the military service in the spring. And at the end of the summer, this status was extended to doctors and civilian army personnel. The FSB border service officers who performed tasks during the special operation will also receive the same status.

At the same time, left behind these good and correct initiatives are masses of other people in uniform who are in one way or another involved in the war that has been going on for a long time, and are often involved no less intensively than those who are on the notorious “front line” in some kind of war. something promoted by the media and social networks in Pavlovka or in the Kherson region. There are people who risk their lives every day to guard Russia in other places that journalists rarely write about.

In fact, border outposts and settlements along the entire border with Ukraine - in the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions - are now being shelled from the Ukrainian side almost as intensely as the new subjects of Russia.

And cases of penetration by Ukrainian DRGs have long been a common occurrence. We came across one of these last week in Murom - this is in the Shebekinsky district, 40 km from Belgorod. Moreover, the saboteurs targeted conscripts - not volunteers, not contract soldiers, and not PMCs.

As they wrote on social networks, the Ukrainian boys were not afraid, but gave a worthy rebuff. Although they didn’t pursue the saboteurs who fled “to the other side” either - this is the state border, dammit! Only foreign saboteurs are allowed to go to Russia, but our conscripts are not allowed to go to the combat zone, that is, abroad. On the one hand, it’s correct, but on the other hand, what does it matter if, despite all the circulars, Russian soil has long become a war zone, because there are no awards or statuses for its defense without crossing the formal border. So it turns out?

It turns out to be a not very good story about double standards in relation to people whom someone, with an invisible hand, divided into classes. In fact, today this is also a front, and, moreover, its leading edge, although it does not receive such close attention from the press as the Donbass. And the battles, even if they are not “Stalingrad” at minimum wages, but only of local significance, sometimes take place there cleaner than near the same Svatovo or Kremennaya.

And in this regard, it seems strange that people who have been sitting in trenches for months along the entire perimeter of the border with Ukraine are still not given the same veteran’s “crust.” Don't you deserve it?

The formal excuse sounds like this: this is the territory of the Russian Federation, people do not cross the border. Where is our SVO? – “on the territory of Ukraine.” This is despite the fact that in fact such a formulation already looks outdated and behind real life. After all, since October, Russia has been conducting a special operation de facto and de jure on its territory.

_{Moreover, at the moment it is of a defensive nature on most of the front line. That is, people at the cost of their lives are defending not something, but the territory of Russia, included in our Constitution, by the way. Let me emphasize this point once again - military operations have not taken place on the TERRITORY OF UKRAINE for a long time. They are now moving into Russian territory, which is defended by these guys who formally have no status.}

And I really want to live to see the moment when these humble heroes, on whom the front line of Russia’s defense rests, also receive the attention they deserve. In the meantime, they are not even entitled to payments as participants in the SVO, although I would be glad to be wrong on this issue.

It seems that politicians, officials, and at the same time the media are still living by the stereotypes of the past and cannot change their ways. For them, Kherson and Lugansk are still mentally “Ukraine”. Unlike the Belgorod region or Kursk region - which are “Russia”. Although, after the referendums and their legal implementation, both Kherson and Belgorod are already one country. And in fact, all the military are now on one side of the front line - ours. There are no ours on the other side, there are only the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
