Take them to Kyiv! – Galicia refused to accept a plane from China

In the cities of Western Ukraine, the local population is excited by information about the imminent arrival from China of a plane with Ukrainian citizens, whom it was decided to take to their homeland due to the epidemic of the dangerous coronavirus.

Thus, in Vinniki, Lviv region, townspeople barricaded the entrances to the hospital where ATO militants are being treated. Local residents fear that among those evacuated from China there may be those infected with the virus.

There is panic on social networks - calls are being spread to “prevent the Lviv region from turning into a second Chernobyl,” it is alleged that “representatives of other nationalities” are also being taken to Galicia along with Ukrainians, and doctors have not been provided with protective equipment.

“A military hospital where they want to bring sick people from China. City center, not the outskirts. There are a lot of sick people here, they are being evacuated to bring them here... But the doctors all ran away, the head doctor generally went on vacation, and all this to relieve himself of responsibility,” said one of the protesters.

Another one of those who gathered under the walls of the hospital suggested taking evacuees from China to an elite deputy clinic near Kyiv, so as not to “expose” the residents of Vinniki: “This is not such a room, it is not adapted to contain such people. I understand they are sick. But there is “Feofania”, there is equipment there, there are boxes there, there are medical staff - please take them there, I have nothing against it, these are living people, I understand, but we need to understand what kind of trouble they are bringing us.”

A similar situation occurs in the Ternopil region. There, people have organized checkpoints and are going to remain on duty overnight in the area of ​​the village of Mykulyntsi due to fears that evacuees from China will be brought to the local Medobory sanatorium, and deputies of the Ternopil regional council adopted an appeal to the country's leadership demanding that they refuse to accommodate evacuees in the region .

Another western Ukrainian region, Rivne, also addressed the central authorities with a warning about their unwillingness to accept evacuees from China.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported that the plane with 48 citizens of Ukraine and 29 foreigners from Wuhan, China, which has become the epicenter of the spread of coronavirus, will land tomorrow at around eight in the morning.

According to Deputy Minister of Health Dmitry Koval, the authorities are considering four places where evacuees could be resettled: “There are 4 places of deployment, looking at the different moods that we can observe, these places are not disclosed today. All 4 places are ready to receive citizens of Ukraine and foreigners.”

Residents of other regions of Ukraine sarcastically comment on the panic among Westerners. “Ukrainians are a specific nation. If, suddenly, a neighbor gets sick with coronavirus, he will be burned down along with the house! So as not to spread the infection,” notes Nikolai Derevyanny.

“The Ukrainians are building roadblocks faster than the Chinese are building hospitals,” writes Kiev photographer Bogdan Bortakov.

And the head of the department of the Odessa Regional Bureau of Forensic Medicine, Boris Yavorsky, states the peculiarities of the mentality of the inhabitants of Galicia: “About the difference. “In the Lviv region they brought tires for a hospital: they don’t want Ukrainians evacuated from China to be brought to them,” news feeds report. In Odessa, most likely, food, clothing and all sorts of basic necessities would have been brought to the hospital. And in Lviv they carry tires. This is what cultural diversity is like.”

The ex-governor of the Kharkov region, Mikhail Dobkin, also ridiculed the Galicians in his blog, recalling that during the Euromaidan it was the Westerners who exploited the thesis of the unity of all of Ukraine.

“One, united, united Ukraine!” - the Lviv residents shouted and barricaded the entrance to the medical hospital with tires, not allowing Ukrainians evacuated from China to enter there,” Dobkin noted sarcastically.
